About

A Note from Laura Schmieder, Consortium Chair

Under my Artistic Direction since its founding in 1994, the City of Beverly Hills has selected artists and ensembles for its Sunday-afternoon recital series Music In The Mansion (formerly Sundays At Two) by holding annual auditions in April. The caliber of artists presented in the City of Beverly Hills caught attention of presenting series throughout greater Los Angeles, and we began receiving inquiries from concert presenters interested in engaging the audition winners. And so, with Dr. Jim Eninger — the publisher of the respected Clickable Chamber Music Newsletter for Southern California — as a co-chair, the informal Consortium of Chamber Music Presenters of Southern California (C-CMP-SoCal) was born in 2012. Now 50-members, the Consortium is invited as guests to the annual Beverly Hills National Auditions (BHNA).

The Winners of Beverly Hills National Auditions receive performance engagements and recognition in at least three concert series:  Music By The Sea (City of Encinitas on Friday evenings),  The Interludes (Torrance on Saturday afternoons), and Music In The Mansion (City of Beverly Hills on Sunday afternoons), as well as on Sundays Live! at LACMA, Laguna Beach Live! and more than 50 other Southland concert series through the Consortium of Southern California Chamber Music Presenters, and numerous unaffiliated presenters.

  • Consortium members have access to the contact information for the winners and recommended artists to consider for their series.
  • The winners receive contacts for the Consortium members, and are encouraged to propose concerts to the Consortium members.
  • The Consortium’s concert-series presenters make separate concert arrangements with the selected artists/ensembles.

We trust that this website — while providing the latest news about the Beverly Hills National Auditions and the Consortium of Chamber Music Presenters of Southern California — will become a forum for the auditioning artists to be exposed to numerous performance opportunities and for the Consortium members’ access to exceptionally fine artists and ensembles.

Southern California recital and chamber music presenters interested in joining the Consortium can find an invitation by here.

Respectfully,
